FAQ

At Portland Family Dentistry, Dr. Agee and the rest of our team work hard to create a comfortable and relaxing office environment where the care and comfort of our patients always comes first. We know that whether a new patient looking for a family dentist in Portland or a returning patient, you probably have a lot of questions when it comes to receiving the dental care you need to enjoy a healthy, great looking smile for a lifetime. To better meet our patient’s needs, here are a few answers to some of the most common questions we receive.

What are your hours?

Where are you located? What types of services do you provide?

As an experienced Portland dentist, Dr. Agee provides a comprehensive range of advanced Preventative, Cosmetic and Restorative dental care services. Whether you need to schedule a routine cleaning, desire a brighter, whiter looking smile, or need to repair the damage done to your teeth by dental decay and disease, Dr. Agee has the skill and expertise to help protect the oral health of every member of the family.

Do I need to arrive early to my first appointment?

Yes. Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so you have the time to fill out any necessary patient forms. Showing up in advanced will help ensure that your appointment starts on time and stays on schedule.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

Please bring a copy of the following information with you to your first appointment:

• Dental insurance card (if applicable)
• Valid identification, such as a driver’s license or state or military ID
• Patient health history or way of contacting your current or most recent physician
• Preferred payment method – We currently accept all major credit and debit cards, along with cash and check payments

How long will my first appointment last?

Depending on the current state of your oral health and most recent exam and cleaning, you can expect your first appointment to take between 1 and 1 ½ hours. Patients whose dental cleaning cannot be completed within this window may need to schedule a second appointment to finish their cleaning.

Do you provide kids’ dental care?

Yes! At Portland Family Dentistry, Dr. Agee and his team possess that special touch for making kids feel comfortable and relaxed while at the dentist. From the first baby tooth all the way through their teenage years, your kids’ unique oral health needs will remain our top priority.

When should I schedule my child’s first dental appointment?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that patients schedule their child’s first dental exam by the age of 1 or shortly after their first tooth emerges, whichever comes first. Early dental care provides Dr. Agee the chance to monitor a child’s oral health development so he can spot any signs of decay or disease while still easily treatable.

How often do I need to visit the dentist?

Both Dr. Agee and the American Dental Association recommend that adults visit the dentist at least twice a year. When combined with daily brushing and flossing, regular exams provide the best protection against the harmful effects of tooth decay and gum disease.
